Expertech is partnering with a specialist technology consultancy helping organisations deliver exceptional digital experiences through modern platforms, cloud technologies, and high-performing engineering teams.

We're looking for an experienced Front End Tech Lead to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-scale digital platforms. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep front-end engineering expertise with strong leadership capabilities and experience working with CMS and digital experience platforms. Experience with commerce platforms and composable architecture is highly desirable.

You'll remain hands-on while guiding technical direction, mentoring developers, and partnering with clients to deliver scalable, performant, and future-ready solutions.
 
Responsibilities

• Lead front-end architecture, design, and delivery across complex digital and customer experience platforms.
• Define scalable front-end solutions that integrate with CMS, commerce, search, personalisation, and backend services.
• Provide technical leadership to development teams, establishing best practices, standards, and delivery approaches.
• Remain hands-on throughout delivery, contributing to architecture, development, code reviews, and technical problem-solving.
• Design and implement modern front-end applications using technologies such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with clients, product owners, designers, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Define rendering strategies including SSR, SSG, ISR, and edge-based approaches where appropriate.
• Drive front-end performance, accessibility, SEO, security, and scalability outcomes.
• Lead integration design across APIs, middleware, CMS, commerce, and supporting platform services.
• Support solution workshops, technical discovery sessions, estimations, and pre-sales activities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of Expertech's front-end capability and engineering standards.
• Champion modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, automation, and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Front End Tech Lead, Lead Developer, Senior Front End Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js and contemporary front-end development practices.
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale web applications and digital platforms.
• Strong experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS) and digital experience platforms.
• Deep understanding of component-based architecture, design systems, and reusable front-end patterns.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs, backend services, and third-party platforms.
• Strong understanding of web performance optimisation, Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
• Experience leading development teams, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews.
• Strong knowledge of front-end security principles and secure integration practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience with commerce platforms such as commercetools, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, or similar.
• Experience with headless and enterprise CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sitecore, Optimizely, Adobe Experience Manager, Storyblok, or Sanity.
• Experience working within composable architecture environments.
• Knowledge of micro frontends and modular front-end architecture patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience working within consulting, digital agency, or client-facing delivery environments.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools and engineering workflows.
