At expertech, we are searching for a Financial services client to appoint a Head of QA & Test Strategy. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on transformation, automation, and strategic delivery at scale. This role is perfect for a consultative QA leader who is passionate about replacing legacy manual testing with intelligent automation and AI. Embedding quality as a core part of Agile delivery is essential. 
 
The role
This is a high-impact, enterprise-wide leadership role where you'll own the QA strategy across Agile portfolios, traditional programs, and mission-critical platforms.
You'll lead a shift toward automated, AI-driven testing practices, modernise frameworks, manage vendors, and advise delivery teams on the best ways to scale quality across the enterprise.
 
Responsibilities

• Own the QA transformation roadmap, with a focus on automation, AI, and continuous testing.
• Eliminate legacy manual testing, embedding quality in delivery pipelines across Agile and Waterfall projects.
• Lead vendor management, ensuring strategic alignment, SLA performance, and delivery excellence.
• Consult on testing environments, QA tooling, data provisioning, and scalable test architecture.
• Drive governance uplift, working toward TMMi Level 4 and aligning with enterprise strategy.
• Champion Agile QA adoption, supporting SAFe and/or LeSS across delivery teams.
• Partner with senior stakeholders, influencing adoption of modern QA practices and value-based delivery.

Essential skills and experience

• 7+ years in QA/test leadership roles with governance, automation, and transformation responsibilities.
• Strong experience in vendor and partner management, ideally across multi-supplier environments.
• Proven success in replacing manual testing with automation and AI-led solutions.
• Knowledge of test strategy for both Agile and hybrid delivery models.
• Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks, integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels.
• Comfortable consulting on testing environments, tooling strategy, and infrastructure alignment.

Desirable skills and experience

• CI/CD tooling expertise (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on knowledge or leadership across PEGA, AEM, and AWS.
• Understanding of SAFe or LeSS Agile frameworks and how testing fits into the release train.
• Experience with tools like Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, SpecFlow, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with TMMi, quality metrics, and enterprise test maturity models.
