The Federation of Community Legal Centres Victoria (the Federation) is a fast-paced and dynamic organisation that leads and supports excellence in the community legal sector, promotes the purpose and value of community legal centres (CLCs), and advances social justice and a fair legal system. It is the peak body for Victoria’s 50 CLCs, who are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by legal challenges. The Federation’s vision is for a community that is fair, inclusive and thriving.
As the Communications Manager, you will lead strategic communications, ensuring the Federation’s work is representative and influential, member voices are amplified, and the issues facing the community legal sector are clearly understood by key audiences. This role is well‑suited to a communications professional who values thoughtful, evidence‑based communication, and who is motivated by advancing social justice through accurate and responsible storytelling.
Reporting to the CEO, you will plan and deliver communications across the organisation, including media engagement, advocacy campaigns, oversight of digital communications (with day-to-day social media delivery led by the Digital Communications Officer), and correspondence for a range of stakeholders. You will work closely with internal teams and Community Legal Centres to ensure the Federation’s messages are consistent, considered, and aligned with sector priorities.
You will also oversee regular communications outputs, identify opportunities to strengthen the Federation’s public positioning, and provide strategic advice to the CEO and Senior Management Team. The role includes leading and supporting the Digital Communications Officer, engaging with a CLC communications working group, and contributing to a collaborative and learning-oriented team culture.
