The Federation of Community Legal Centres Victoria (the Federation) is a fast-paced and dynamic for-purpose organisation that leads and supports excellence in the community legal sector, promotes the purpose and value of Community Legal Centres, and advances social justice and a fair legal system. It is the peak body for Victoria’s 50 Community Legal Centres (CLCs), who are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by legal challenges. The Federation’s vision is for a community that is fair, inclusive, and thriving, where every person belongs and can learn, grow, heal, participate and be heard.
As People & Culture Lead, you will play a central role in shaping and supporting the Federation’s people and culture function. This standalone role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment, enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and is passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Reporting to the Director of Member Excellence, People and Operations, you will lead and deliver all people operations activities (such as recruitment and onboarding, employment contracts, and the preparation of fortnightly payroll), while progressing strategic people goals and fostering a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture. You’ll provide expert and confidential advice, coaching and support to Federation managers and staff, ensuring best practice approaches across the employee lifecycle.
You’ll work across all elements of the people and culture function, including delivering organisational culture initiatives, workforce planning and recruitment, drafting and reviewing policies to meet compliance and governance obligations, supporting wellbeing, and implementing effective performance and development processes.
