JobWatch - Lead the communications function for an employment rights legal centre
JobWatch is an employment rights legal centre which provides assistance to Victorian, Queensland and Tasmanian workers about their rights at work. JobWatch was founded in 1980 and is committed to improving the lives of workers, particularly the most disadvantaged. Their core activities include operating a free, confidential telephone information and referral service for Victorian, Queensland and Tasmanian workers; providing representation and assistance for disadvantaged workers through a casework legal practice; undertaking community education on issues about employment law; and engaging in law reform activities.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager has primary responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of JobWatch’s communications and marketing strategy by employing strategies to increase the awareness, profile and reach of JobWatch. As the sole communications specialist within the organisation, the Communications Manager will need to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level – leading communications planning while also managing day-to-day content creation, media liaison and digital engagement. The role plays a key role in deciphering analytics, workplace trends and pulling together information for newsletters, online content and publications and reports for stakeholders, government, community legal services sector and media.
Additionally, the role oversees all administration across communications functions and general administrative tasks for the organisation, as required.
