Ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced FMCG environment? We are looking for an experienced QC Technician to join a leading FMCG manufacturing site in Wiri, Manukau, on a 6-month contract.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous QC, laboratory, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing experience who can step into the role, quickly understand the environment, and contribute from day one.
You will join a busy Quality team, working alongside Production, Planning, Logistics, and Engineering to ensure products meet the highest quality and safety standards.
About the Role As a QC Technician, you will be responsible for conducting quality control testing across in-process and finished products, ensuring all testing is completed accurately, efficiently, and in line with laboratory procedures and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct sampling and analytical and sensory testing of in-process and finished products in accordance with laboratory manuals and SOPs.
- Identify and escalate out-of-specification (OOS) results and support timely corrective actions.
- Ensure QC and Micro Laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and within calibration requirements.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable testing records and documentation.
- Support timely product release by completing testing accurately and within required timeframes.
- Participate in continuous improvement and Kaizen initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency and quality systems.
- Maintain Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), 5S housekeeping, and audit-ready laboratory standards.
- Support the QC Team Leader with daily laboratory operations and step into the role when required.
- Follow all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and contribute to a zero-harm workplace.
- Maintain required training, competency certifications, and technical knowledge.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Logistics, and Engineering teams to support quality and manufacturing outcomes.
- Work in accordance with HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and company quality systems and procedures.
About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a QC Technician, Laboratory Technician, Quality, or similar role.
- Experience within FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
- The ability to hit the ground running and confidently work with minimal training.
- Experience conducting analytical, sensory, sampling, or quality testing.
- Knowledge of GLP, GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, or ISO 17025 quality systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- The ability to identify quality issues and escalate OOS results appropriately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- A proactive approach to quality, health and safety, and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility and reliability to work a rotating 3-shift roster.
- A relevant qualification in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
Rotating Shift Roster The QC Technician team operates across a rotating 3-shift roster, with shifts rotating every two weeks:
- Morning: 5:00am – 1:30pm
- Afternoon: 1:30pm – 9:30pm
- Night: 9:00pm – 5:30am
