At Glide, we're transforming New Zealand's waste oil into something far more valuable — high-quality base oils that support a cleaner, more sustainable future. As a proud family-owned business rooted in Franklin, we're building a workplace where purpose, performance and teamwork go hand in hand.
We're now looking for an Operator to join our brand-new, state-of-the-art oil recycling plant. If you enjoy practical, hands-on work, take pride in doing things safely and right the first time, and want to be part of a business making a genuine environmental impact, this could be your next step.
Why Join Glide?

- Annual Profit Share opportunity
- Family-owned, values-driven and agile - everyone is known, and your contribution matters
- Great training, development and upskilling opportunities
- Work with cutting-edge plant and equipment
What You'll Do As an Operator, you'll help keep our plant running safely, smoothly and efficiently. You'll work closely with our Lead Operator and Operations Manager to ensure production hits quality, safety and performance standards.
Your key responsibilities will include: Plant & Process Operation - Operate, monitor and adjust plant systems in line with SOPs and safety requirements
- Support safe start-up, shut-down and changeover activities
- Identify and report plant issues promptly to help minimise downtime
- Maintain a strong focus on equipment care and reliable operation
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement - Carry out routine checks, inspections and basic maintenance tasks
- Keep accurate records of plant activities and maintenance work
- Suggest improvements to safety, efficiency and operating procedures
- Support the development and refinement of SOPs
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibility - Follow all PPE, permit-to-work and safety procedures
- Respond appropriately to spills, alarms or incidents
- Contribute to investigations and support corrective actions
- Keep work areas clean, organised and hazard-free
About You We're looking for someone who brings the right mix of skill, attitude and work ethic. You'll thrive here if you're practical, reliable and enjoy working in a high-performing team.
You'll bring: - Process operations or exposure to a mechanical engineering environment is preferred
- Experience in plant, process, manufacturing or heavy-industry operations
- Good understanding of safety requirements in high-risk environments
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence using PLC control systems and equipment
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
- A calm, steady approach — especially when things don't go to plan
Any formal qualifications in Process Operations or Mechanical Engineering, or certificates such as confined space or hot-work training, are an advantage but not essential.
What Success Looks Like You'll keep the plant running safely, efficiently and compliantly through sharp PLC operation, clear communication and a strong ownership mindset. You'll help minimise downtime, improve processes, and contribute to a positive, safety-first culture that delivers on Glide's mission.
If you're someone who takes pride in doing things right, enjoys a mix of control-room precision and hands-on work, and wants to be part of a business shaping a cleaner future — we'd love to hear from you.
