Our client is one of New Zealand’s leading food manufacturers, producing a wide range of high-quality oil based food products and specialty fats from the Bay of Plenty plant. Due to growth, we are currently seeking a Process Technician to join their team, with opportunities for those with existing processing/manufacturing experience who are eager to develop further in food oil refining.
The role:
Working as part of the refinery team, you’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of refining processes, ensuring products meet required specifications. The role requires 40% Control Room operation, and 60% Hands on refinery work! Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the refining, bleaching, neutralisation, degumming and deodorisation process of all raw materials.
- Operating, monitoring, and adjusting refinery equipment and PLC-controlled systems.
- Handling and transferring raw and refined oils.
- Performing in-process quality and compliance checks, with accurate recording of production data.
- Carrying out hygiene, cleaning, and equipment maintenance tasks.
- Supporting continuous improvement, problem solving, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborating with team members to meet production targets.
The applicant: We are seeking individuals with some prior experience in a manufacturing, food production, process or engineering environment. Oil refining experience is advantageous but not required – training will be provided.
- Good physical fitness to complete manual handling and cleaning tasks.
- Basic computer literacy (emails, data entry, system use).
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- A team player with good communication skills and flexibility to support overtime if required.
Shifts & Pay: This position operates on a rotating shift basis, 4 on, 4 off rotating from days to night shift after two cycles.
Pay starts at
$30–$32 per hour, however this can be flexible for those with prior mill or refinery experience.
