And now they’re looking for a Graduate Software Developer to join the team in Brisbane.

The GIG 

This is a proper first step into software engineering.

Not two years of observing from the sidelines.

You’ll join an experienced development team and learn how modern software is designed, built, secured, deployed and operated in the real world.

The stack?

Ruby on Rails. Java. Kotlin. AWS. Kubernetes. Terraform.

There’s strong DevSecOps thinking, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps and AI-assisted software development already embedded into how the team works.

You’ll get exposure across the whole software lifecycle.

Build. Test. Ship. Monitor. Learn. Improve.

What you’ll be doing:

• Build and maintain secure, reliable software powering AAF’s identity federation
• Work alongside experienced developers, product and security teams to solve real technical problems
• Learn modern engineering practices including automated testing, code review, AI-assisted development and CI/CD
• Get hands-on with cloud infrastructure and services running in AWS
• Learn how applications are deployed and operated using technologies like Kubernetes and Terraform
• Investigate technical problems across both applications and infrastructure
• Write technical documentation and share what you learn with the team
• Help support teams solve more complex issues affecting AAF users

What we’re looking for in YOU!!

We’re looking for someone who has the foundations, curiosity and problem-solving brain to become a really good engineer.

Maybe you’ve built things at uni.

Maybe you’ve got side projects sitting on GitHub.

Maybe you've completed an internship.

Maybe you’re just the person who gets slightly too excited when you finally figure out why something wasn’t working.

You’ll ideally bring:

• A degree in Computer Science, IT or another relevant discipline
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Exposure to at least one other modern programming language
• An understanding of how modern web applications work
• Familiarity with Git/version control
• An understanding of code reviews, automated testing and verification
• Some exposure to cloud platforms - AWS gets bonus points
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• The confidence to ask questions, contribute ideas and learn from others
• An ability to explain yourself clearly to both technical and non-technical people
