Vivo are an award-winning web design + development agency based in Newstead, partnering with brands across industries to deliver websites, platforms and digital products that actually work.

They’ve got a strong technical foundation (PHP at the core), and they build the majority of their work on WordPress (heavily customised) or Symfony - depending on the problem they’re solving.

The role You’ll join the dev crew as a Symfony-focused Backend Developer, working across a mix of:

• Greenfield builds (new sites/platforms/tools)
• Integrations (APIs, data mapping, third-party systems)
• Ongoing enhancement + maintenance across a broader client portfolio

In short - you’ll be touching meaningful work, regularly, across multiple clients and projects.

You’ll work closely with Vivo’s long-standing Head of Technology, a dedicated Front End Dev and a strategy + design team early in the project lifecycle where you’ll have direct input before things flow to dev.

What your weeks will look like (in real terms)

• Around 5 projects moving at any one time (at different stages)
• Maintenance + support, which is often real enhancement work, not just updates
• You’ll have the freedom to self-manage your time (they schedule the big rocks, you organise the rest)

Work is planned properly, and overtime is rare, not a personality trait.

And honestly… the best bit This is a small, stable team with a long tenure (average is ~5 years in dev team), which in this market - is a breath of fresh air. They’re not precious about processes, they don’t micromanage, and they treat people like adults.
So in turn, you’ll get:

• Direct client access to get clarity and solve real problems

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years commercial experience building in PHP
• Solid backend capability (Symfony ideal, open to Laravel experience)
• Some familiarity with WordPress builds and/or working alongside CMS-driven platforms
• Bonus points for agency experience (or at least, you understand the pace and task prioritisation)
