Fynd is absolutely over the moon to be partnered with the legends at Megaport, helping them find a Senior Frontend Engineer to take the reins on their platform's UI experience - and this one's a beauty!
Vue is the flavour of choice - but if you're fluent in another modern framework and happy to lean into Vue, you'll fit right in. This isn't just about syntax - it's about smart architecture, scalable components, and a deep understanding of frontend fundamentals.
If you're a product-savvy frontend engineer who gets a kick out of performance, architecture, and design systems, in a high-growth, globally scaling SaaS environment - keep reading!
First up: who is Megaport?
Founded in Brisbane, Megaport is one of this city's great tech success stories - publicly listed, and trusted by AWS, Google, Oracle and Microsoft - they're a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) provider redefining how businesses connect to the cloud.
Their platform is a global engine room for network connectivity - enabling instant, secure, and scalable connections between data centres, clouds, carriers and customers across 800+ enabled locations.
They've got 350+ people worldwide (but still have the heart of a 30-person startup!), with a deeply collaborative culture and a healthy appetite for building smart, elegant, performant products.
The Role
This is a hands-on senior engineering gig - building out a critical layer of Megaport's platform as they expand globally and re-architect key pieces of the user experience. You'll be part of a cross-functional squad (Frontend, Backend, QA, BA) focused on designing and delivering performant, intuitive frontend interfaces.
You'll contribute to everything from discounting systems and shopping cart rethinks to new customer portals and platform-wide component libraries.
But this isn't just a coding role. Megaport is building a product engineering culture where engineers are expected to contribute to roadmap thinking, architectural decisions, and customer outcomes. You won't be handed tickets. You'll shape them.
You'll also be a role model for quality and collaboration. Someone who sees the big picture, asks the right questions, and isn't afraid to challenge assumptions (nicely).
You'll:
- Lead design, development, maintenance, and optimisation of frontend applications
- Migrate systems from Vue 2 to Vue 3
- Champion accessible, scalable architecture and component design
- Mentor and support engineers, lifting the technical bar
- Proactively manage and reduce tech debt across the platform
- Help evaluate and enhance frontend tooling and best practices
The Tech Stack - Vue 2 (mid-migration to Vue 3)
- TypeScript
- Tailwind
- Vite
- Tanstack
- NX Monorepo
- Playwright + Vitest (for testing)
The broader environment includes Java, Kotlin, AWS, Lambda, Docker - so full-stack or systems awareness is always welcome. Why this role matters Megaport's product is growing in scale and complexity and they're investing in the frontend experience as a priority. They want to reduce tech debt, modernise architecture, improve UX, and build more reusable patterns that scale across squads. Your voice won't just be heard. It'll be expected. You'll help shape the evolution of the frontend stack, mentor others, and help unlock faster, cleaner, more predictable delivery across the board. You'll thrive here if you... - Have 8+ years of frontend or full stack experience in product environments
- Have deep experience with a modern JavaScript framework (Vue, React, Angular)
- Are confident writing and reviewing TypeScript code
- Understand architecture, testing strategies, and design system best practice
- Know your way around web accessibility, semantic HTML, and responsive UI
- Are familiar with frontend testing strategies (unit, component, integration, E2E)
- Enjoy collaborating with BAs, designers, and product managers
- Can explain complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
- Have worked in SaaS or complex platform teams before
- Take ownership and initiative, and enjoy autonomy without ego
The vibe? High trust. Low ego. Strong opinions, loosely held. The kind of team where people listen, think, and evolve ideas together. You won't be micromanaged. You will be expected to bring your best thinking to the table and help lift the technical bar. Brisbane or Melbourne is preferred, but they're open to remote people across Australia! What else you'll love about it - Flexible hybrid/remote setup
- Startup energy, scale-up reach
- Big impact, clear growth path
- Birthday leave
- Study support + 5 days paid study leave
- Purchased annual leave scheme
- Wellness perks
