They build the software that helps non-bank lenders participate in CDR, safely and securely. Their tech is used by some of Australia’s most forward-thinking fintechs to give people more choice, transparency, and control.

Now? They’re ready to bring on a Director of Engineering to lead the charge - guiding the team, the tech, and the culture as they grow.
You’ll join forces with their Principal Engineer + Product Lead to guide architecture, delivery, and people - all while helping shape the systems behind a more open, ethical, and secure data ecosystem.
What’s the gig?
Let’s be clear - this isn’t a hands-on coding role. This is for a delivery-focused, people-driven leader who knows how to empower senior engineers, keep momentum high, and bring structure to complex, high-trust teams.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll partner with:
- A Principal Engineer (stepping back from people leadership to focus on tech direction + mentorship)
- Head of Product
- Senior engineers and contributors who own their craft
Your mission?
- Build and lead a deeply senior team
- Keep projects moving, on time and to standard
- Balance compliance, delivery, and long-term vision
- Drive accountability in a regulated space without killing speed or innovation
You’ll be leading a flat, senior team - no layers, no passengers. Just experienced operators, clear goals, and a platform scaling fast.
What you’ll be responsible for:
People leadership & culture (40%) - Coach and develop a smart, values-driven team of engineers and PMs
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high-trust environment
- Build a culture of continuous feedback, curiosity, and mutual respect
Team accountability & delivery (40%) - Shape the right structures, rituals, and rhythms to keep delivery tight and the bar high
- Align team focus with Biza’s broader business + compliance goals
- Ensure roadmap items get shipped - on time, on spec, and with zero surprises
Engineering & product alignment (20%) - Own engineering execution from end to end
- Work closely with the Principal Engineer to ensure tech excellence
- Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Customer teams to shape outcomes, not just features
What we’re looking for in you: - 7+ years’ experience in engineering leadership (ideally SaaS, scale-up, or regulated tech)
- You’ve led senior teams before - and love building high-performing, low-ego engineering cultures
- You’re a delivery machine who knows how to hold the line, without killing curiosity
- You speak governance, compliance, and risk - and know how to build within them without slowing things down
- You’re remote-first, but within easy reach of a major metro airport for the occasional onsite or board-level catch-up
