Senior Consultant - Payroll Projects & Governance
Perth (Hybrid) | Full-time | Growth opportunity
About the Opportunity
Let's be clear: this is not your average BAU payroll processing role. This is a genuine opportunity to be a trusted advisor, business partner, and the "safe pair of hands" clients need to navigate complex change.
As part of our Payroll Advisory team, you'll work across a diverse portfolio of clients, diagnosing issues, determining gaps, and designing solutions that give them trust and confidence in their payroll operations. You'll be stewarding transformation, not just processing transactions.
What You'll Be Doing
Your work will span four key areas:
Implementation
You will lead end-to-end payroll/HRIS implementations across Tier 1 systems (SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Dayforce), from scoping to project management, to testing and go-live. As a natural facilitator, you will lead workshops to shape solution strategies, and present to Steering Committees and senior stakeholders, to ensure each decision drives commercial value.
Remediation & Assurance
This is where your payroll superstar status will really shine. You will lead remediation projects and conduct employer obligation and assurance checks, to identify root cause issues, and design long-term solutions.
Governance
You will design and build the governance and compliance safety net for our clients, by designing robust policies, risk controls, and compliance frameworks. This includes creating reporting frameworks and advising Boards and C-Suite leaders on governance maturity and improvement opportunities.
Advisory & Coaching
Key to our approach is knowledge transfer to our clients. You will be the trusted advisor and expert in the room, having built strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, while coaching teams to ensure they have the internal capability to sustain meaningful change.
What We're Looking For
Technical expertise:
- 7+ years deep, end-to-end payroll operations experience.
- Experience in HRIS or payroll system implementations (SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Dayforce etc).
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and contemporary practices.
- Project management experience with examples of delivering projects to completion.
Consulting & partnering skills: - Demonstrated experience in consulting, internal partnering, or leadership roles.
- Strong commercial awareness with ability to identify opportunities and shape solution strategies that deliver business value.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder dynamics and influence at senior levels (C-Suite, Board, Steering Committees).
- Ability to understand problems, analyse and synthesise data, scope options, and communicate recommendations effectively and to varied stakeholders.
- Capability in analysing data and inputs, synthesising complex information, anticipating needs, and leading strategic discussions.
- Track record of building trusted advisor relationships and delivering successful client outcomes.
