Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Executive Director (ED) is the key leader of a well established and prominent 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organization and will oversee the strategic, programmatic, and financial operations of the organization. The ED will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors and the staff to ensure the achievement of organizational goals and the advancement of our mission. The ED will be the face of the company and will lead efforts in fundraising, staff development, community engagement, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Program Development:
- Collaborate with the Board in executing the organization's vision and strategic direction.
- Provide leadership oversight for the development of programs, organizational strategies, and financial plans, working closely with the Programming Director, Program Leads, and staff.
- Ensure alignment of programs with the overall strategic goals as approved by the Board.
Fundraising & Events: - Assist in crafting the organization’s value proposition and drive substantial growth in fundraising efforts.
- Leverage your personal network to secure charitable contributions and successfully execute grant applications.
- Identify and engage with third-party organizations and collaborators to expand our awareness, reach, and impact in the community.
- Lead a volunteer team for revenue pipeline development to ensure healthy income to drive operations and growth.
Budget & Finance: - Partner with the Staff Accountant to develop and maintain sound financial practices.
- Collaborate with the VP, Treasurer, Board, and staff to prepare annual budgets, ensuring the organization adheres to financial guidelines and accounting best practices.
- Provide general financial oversight, including budgets, accounts receivable, and reporting.
Marketing & Communications: - Serve as the face of our company, representing the organization at key events and speaking engagements.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure cohesive messaging and brand alignment across all communication platforms.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize content and messaging to maximize outreach and engagement.
Staff Oversight & Development: - Foster an inclusive, collaborative work environment where staff contributions are valued and personal development is encouraged.
- Align staff and volunteers with the organization’s strategic initiatives and ensure their efforts are supporting the mission.
- Create and sustain a culture focused on driving forward our mission and core values as defined by the board.
Required/Desired Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, Nonprofit Management, or related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience in the technology industry as a practitioner, contributor, or leader.
- Prior experience reporting to a Board of Directors is a plus.
- Proven experience in fundraising, including grant writing and developing donor relationships.
- Experience working with “C-level” executives and stakeholders.
- Prior involvement with us, either as a leader, member, or volunteer, is highly desired.
