Learning Support Assistant
Permanent & Fixed‑Term / £19,727.31 ‑ £20,628.61 (38 weeks per year)

Think FE are proud to be working with an Ofsted‑rated “Good” further education college in Middlesbrough who are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people succeed and ready to support students in a variety of ways.

What you’ll do

• Work alongside teaching staff to assist students in lessons, offering support with reading, writing, note‑taking and general literacy/numeracy needs.
• Provide behaviour and time‑management support to help students engage positively in college life.
• Escort students between lessons when required, ensuring they arrive on time and are settled for learning.
• Develop strong relationships with students who may have learning difficulties and/or disabilities, understanding how to adapt support appropriately.
• Assist with day‑to‑day student life: supporting independence, monitoring progress, liaising with staff where needed.

What we’re looking for

• GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above or equivalent) are essential.
• Level 2 qualification (or above) in Supporting Students/Teaching Assistants, Manual Handling, First Aid – desirable.
• Previous experience of supporting students with learning difficulties/disabilities is highly valued.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills – you’ll be trusted to build rapport, motivate and support students.
• Reliable, organised and able to manage time effectively.
• Ability to adapt and respond positively to changing situations within the classroom and college setting.
