We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Accountant to lead critical operational, and inventory accounting functions across Midland Brick. This role is central to ensuring accurate operational reporting, driving process improvement, supporting operational teams, and providing strong leadership within the accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, collaborative, and commercially minded accounting professional who thrives in an operational environment.
About the Role
This role is a key position within the Midland Brick Finance team, responsible for guiding day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring seamless coordination across operational and inventory processes. You will oversee critical month-end activities, champion continuous improvement, and play a central role in strengthening operational systems, controls, and reporting discipline across the business.
Your role will include:
- Recording operational expenses and obligations accurately, including clay extraction, raw material deliveries, production costing and sales transaction integrity.
- Lead stocktakes, process month end raw materials, parts and consumable counts to ensure the timely and accurate recording of stock and usage in the general ledger.
- Ensure controls are in place and maintained in relation to Inventory Management within the ERP system.
- Drive process improvements to strengthen governance and workflow efficiency.
- Partner with sales, and operations teams to support accurate reporting and commercial insight.
- Prepare cashflow forecasting.
Skills and Experience: - Bachelor degree in Commerce (major in Accounting) or equivalent
- Professional Accounting recognition - CPA/CA qualification
- 5 to 7 years+ demonstrated work experience and knowledge of
- o principles of activity based costing
- o stocktake and inventory management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel and Power Point
- Strong resilience and flexibility in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent time management and work-planning skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
