About the Role
We are looking for an individual with a passion for occupational health and safety, to support the Health and Safety Manager in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment. Responsibilities will include: coaching, mentoring or leaders, employees and contractors on health, safety and environment related issues in the field at Midland Brick.
This role will suit an individual who is looking to grow and develop in their career. Working with a small safety team and under the guidance of Work Health and Safety Manager, you will be exposed to a broad variety of safety-related functions across our different sites and business units to help further embed a positive safety culture.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coaching and mentoring workers and leaders in achieving key safety goals and demonstrate key safety values
- Ensuring safety procedures and policies are understood and followed by employees and contractors
- Conduct and lead incident investigations
- Reviewing, identifying, developing and implementing safety systems and projects (i.e risk assessments, Work Instructions, safety training)
- Ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements
- Conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments and inspections
- Ensuring the identification and control of hazards, the prevention of injuries and the maintenance of a safe working environment
- Maintaining Safety Management Systems for contents and quality
- Conducting/Facilitating internal training as required
- Assisting with the management of return to work, including developing Return to Work Plans
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Current WA drivers’ licence
- Certificate 4 in Occupational Health and Safety and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and codes
- Strong coaching, mentoring and relationship building skills
- High level of influencing, communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions and meetings
- Experience leading incident investigations, including ICAM (or similar)
