Position: Registered Nurse - Primary Health

Primary Purpose of the Position
 
The Registered Nurse's role includes reception screening and comprehensive health assessments all persons received into custody whilst assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing management. The position holder will work within the Client's policies, procedures and guidelines as well as rules and regulations as set out in the relevant legislation.
 
Key Accountabilities: 

• Foster a high standard of patient care and health care delivery. Achieve organisational goals through effective teamwork and leadership whilst fostering a high standard of patient care and delivery and coordinating and providing continuity of care to and from other health care providers.
• Manages effectively the nursing care of individuals and groups and carry out a comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of individuals and groups in a variety of settings.
• Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with individuals and groups. Implements planned nursing care to achieve identified outcomes within scope of competency. Evaluates progress toward expected outcomes and reviews and revises plans in accordance with evaluation data. 
• Respect for the rights and diversity of individuals. Providing optimum standards of clinical practice, and function as a resource person to matters pertaining to health care within a secure environment and co-ordinations and initiating health care to our patients within a secure environment.
• Communicates effectively with individuals and groups and collaborates with other members of the health care team. Collaborates with other members of the health care team.
• The initiation of appropriate treatment and referral in emergency situations.

Selection Criteria

• Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the AHPRA and the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
• Current NSW Drivers Licence.
• Demonstrated knowledge and clinical experience in the assessment and management of health concerns of patients with complex health needs.
• Demonstrate excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills including computer literacy (e.g. MS Word, Outlook, iPM PAS).
• Experience in conducting primary health assessments and case management of patients' health care.
• Demonstrated advanced level of conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• An understanding of the nurse's role and responsibilities in the use of practice development principles to engage with patients/clients and guide others in the provision of a high standard of care.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary team, including the ability to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
