Our client is the largest independent, full-line manufacturer of custom electrical distribution and power quality equipment in North America. They specialize in delivering tailored solutions to address the evolving power requirements of growing industries worldwide. This role presents an exciting opportunity within an innovative and rapidly expanding organization.
As part of the Estimating Department, you will support the Sales Division by preparing proposals and conducting detailed analyses of engineering and design requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: In this role, you will prepare technical quotations for our client’s Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear by analyzing project engineering requirements and associated costs. This includes assessing raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling costs to ensure accurate estimates. You will also identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to create comprehensive costing models and adjust estimates based on project updates or scope changes.
You will collaborate with project management, engineering, and procurement teams, and review engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to produce thorough proposals in response to RFQs (Requests for Quotes). Additionally, you’ll provide quotes for vendor-supplied items as directed by the Sales team and summarize RFQ details to relay key information effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in manufacturing electrical power distribution equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting single-line diagrams and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of LV/MV switchgear and prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience with complex proposals and quotations in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Exceptional computer, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
- Familiarity with paralleling controls and/or PLC/HMI controls is a plus.
- Availability for travel during the 3-6 month onboarding and training period, with up to 25% travel expected during this time.
