DC Power (Battery) Technician
St. Louis, MO
Position Overview:
This DC Power (Battery) Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting DC power systems to ensure consistent power availability for essential operations. This role involves travel, particularly within the Midwest, and requires a solid understanding of electrical systems. The technician should be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is crucial for supporting operations and safeguarding customer power infrastructure integrity.
Work Hours: 40+ hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Set up, configure, and maintain DC power systems, including components such as batteries, rectifiers, and inverters.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the systems run optimally.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve electrical issues within DC power systems using schematics and technical guides.
- Implement corrective actions on faulty equipment to minimize downtime and maintain continuous power flow.
- Documentation:
- Keep detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Develop and update technical documentation, including schematics, operation manuals, and maintenance logs.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with other technicians and engineering teams to enhance system performance and make necessary upgrades.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding project progress and any issues encountered.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations during tasks.
- Ensure adherence to standards and best practices for DC power systems.
Education Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree in electrical technology or a related field is preferred.
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications: - Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience with DC power systems, ideally in telecommunications, data centers, or similar settings.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, circuit analysis, and system design.
- Technical Skills:
- Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing DC power systems and related equipment.
- Proficient with electrical testing equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC) and safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written instructions and procedures.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NICET, NETA) are advantageous but not required.
- Willingness and eligibility to obtain a CDL license.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift and move equipment over 50 lbs.
- Capability to stand, walk, sit, climb, kneel, and perform other physical movements as required.
- Willingness to work in a variety of settings, including outdoor environments.
