Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution & Controls
Location: Aubrey, TX – In office, Five days a week. No outside travel.
Job Type: Full-Time. Direct Hire
About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer in Power Distribution and Control Systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in designing power distribution and control systems, incorporating protective relays, PLC controls, SCADA, DCS systems, and multisource transfer systems for low voltage switchboard and switchgear products. Experience with UL testing of low voltage equipment and technical leadership is a must. This role also involves leading and inspiring a team of engineers, ensuring the successful execution of custom projects with technical accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop power distribution and control systems, employing protective relays, PLC controls, SCADA, DCS, and low voltage switchgear products.
- Lead and manage engineering projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and meet all technical and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support for field coordination and offer OEM consultancy services.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as UL, ANSI, NEMA, and other applicable regulations.
- Drive process optimization initiatives through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Oversee the testing and validation of low voltage industrial control panels, adhering to UL standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, operations, and quality control, to achieve project objectives.
- Train and supervise junior engineers, fostering team building, and driving leadership development within the engineering department.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, providing innovative solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
Required Skills and Competencies: - Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of power distribution systems, protective relays, PLC controls, SCADA, and DCS systems.
- Leadership: Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, leading teams to success and promoting a collaborative environment.
- Standards Compliance: Strong familiarity with UL, ANSI, and NEMA standards, especially regarding low voltage equipment.
- Process Optimization: Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other productivity optimization methodologies.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented and critical-thinking approach to engineering challenges.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across departments to meet project goals.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Power Distribution and Controls (PD&C).
- Proven experience with PLC controls, SCADA, DCS systems, and multisource transfer systems.
- Experience with UL testing of low voltage equipment.
- Certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing are preferred.
- Prior experience in an Engineering Manager or senior engineering role is highly desirable.
