Technical Support Engineer Responsibilities:
The Technical Support Engineer will work within the technical support department, providing hardware and software support for our client’s products. This role is based in Union, NJ, and will report directly to the office. The position focuses on resolving technical issues and enhancing the customer experience through collaboration with teams across Engineering, Sales, Billing, Project Management, Shipping, and Product Assembly.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Resolve technical issues and provide customer support.
- Maintain the reliability and performance of customer systems through technical assistance.
- Repair warranty meters and prepare repair quotes.
- Modify devices based on customer-specific requirements.
- Perform meter testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors for hardware integration.
- Provide feedback to the Engineering team to improve products.
- Create, update, monitor, and close tickets for support requests.
- Manage and improve documentation for the knowledge base system.
- Oversee product verification and operational reliability.
- Configure customer eXpertPower sites based on their needs.
- Offer technical guidance to the eXpertPower Solution and Product Assembly teams.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Strong computer skills with advanced software knowledge.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in system troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Strong understanding of Serial, Fiber, and Ethernet protocols and communications.
- Knowledge of metering products, billing systems, and three-phase power systems.
- Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and customer-focused attitude.
- Team leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Quick learner, comfortable in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Ability to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight stays.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using hand tools and soldering.
Desirable Skills: - Expertise in power transmission, distribution, and control applications.
- Experience with RTU, HMI, SCADA, and data acquisition systems.
