Power Careers is seeking a Relay Technician to join our well established and ever growing client’s team in the Boston metro area.
As a Relay Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting electrical relay systems used in power distribution and transmission networks.
Your primary role will be to ensure the reliability and proper functioning of protective relays that detect and respond to abnormalities in electrical systems to prevent equipment damage and ensure electrical safety on customer sites.
Responsibilities:
Perform regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of protective relay systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose relay malfunctions or failures and implement appropriate repairs.
Conduct relay calibration and coordination studies to ensure optimal relay performance.
Participate in system outage investigations and provide technical support to resolve relay-related issues.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including test reports and records of maintenance activities.
Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and advancements in relay technology.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
Proven experience working with protective relays in power distribution or transmission systems.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and relay theory.
Proficiency in using testing equipment and diagnostic tools for relay testing and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with industry standards and protocols related to protective relays.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members, engineers, and clients.
Adherence to safety protocols and attention to detail in performing tasks.
