ROLE OVERVIEW
Reason Group is seeking a Finance Officer to join our growing team and play a key role in managing our end‑to‑end finance operations in a dynamic consulting and project‑based environment. This mid‑level role is ideal for someone with 3-4 years' experience who enjoys working with numbers, can juggle multiple priorities with high attention to detail, and is comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment. You will manage core finance processes from receipts and reporting through to payroll and compliance, support project accounting, process company receipts using ProSpend, Xero and Employment Hero, and help us continuously improve how we work - including leveraging AI to streamline and automate processes where appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
- Manage the month‑end close process, including project work‑in‑progress reconciliations, month‑end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of monthly management reports (profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow).
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business planning and decision‑making.
- Maintain and enhance financial reporting dashboards and reporting processes.
Budgeting & Forecasting - Collaborate with team leaders to prepare the annual budget.
- Maintain rolling financial forecasts, updating assumptions and projections to reflect changing business conditions.
- Monitor the company's cash flow position and identify potential risks to support effective financial planning.
Accounts Payable & Receivable - Manage the end‑to‑end accounts payable function, including invoice processing, supplier payments, reconciliations and employee expense claims.
- Manage the end‑to‑end accounts receivable function, including client invoicing, collections, debtor management and resolution of billing enquiries.
- Act as the primary finance contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing timely support on finance‑related matters.
- Process company receipts from beginning to end using ProSpend, Xero and Employment Hero.
Payroll & Compliance - Manage payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, leave entitlements, superannuation and PAYG withholding.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, multi‑state payroll tax returns and other statutory obligations.
- Assist with the preparation of annual FBT returns and coordinate the year‑end income tax return process with the external tax agent.
Project Accounting Support - Support delivery teams by monitoring project budgets, analysing budget‑vs‑actual performance, and providing financial insights to support project outcomes.
- Review and validate timesheets to ensure hours are accurately recorded and allocated to the appropriate projects and cost categories.
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement - Liaise with external stakeholders including Employment Hero's accountant, vendors, the tax agent and various state revenue offices.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate finance processes, including the use of AI‑enabled tools where appropriate.
