Pay: $22 - $35 per hour

The Sushi Manager oversees the production, presentation, and quality of sushi offerings in a natural foods grocery store environment. This hands-on role requires a skilled sushi chef with strong leadership abilities and a commitment to food safety, customer satisfaction, and team development. The ideal candidate brings creativity, efficiency, and passion to a dynamic retail setting focused on fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of kitchen prep experience. Sushi experience preferred - not required.
• Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
• Strong knife skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with traditional and innovative sushi techniques
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, including California health codes
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a variety of fresh sushi products daily, ensuring consistency and quality
• Manage daily operations of the sushi department, including staff scheduling, training, and supervision
• Monitor product rotation, inventory, and ordering to minimize waste and ensure freshness
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with food safety standards
• Collaborate with store leadership on product innovation and customer feedback
• Provide excellent customer service and foster a welcoming atmosphere for guests
