Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to support a major plant turnaround/shutdown project in Oman. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing engineering, maintenance, and operational activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely execution of turnaround activities.
Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor plant turnaround/shutdown activities in accordance with project schedules and safety requirements.
• Provide technical support for maintenance, inspection, repair, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, engineering standards, and HSE regulations.
• Review work scopes, method statements, and engineering documentation related to turnaround activities.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Identify and resolve technical issues that may impact project timelines or plant reliability.
• Monitor work progress and provide daily updates on turnaround activities.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
• Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support troubleshooting and optimization of plant equipment and systems during shutdown and startup activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power, or heavy industrial plants.
• Proven experience in plant turnaround/shutdown projects.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, plant operations, and engineering standards.
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and permit-to-work systems.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced turnaround environment and meet tight project deadlines.

Preferred

• Previous experience in GCC/Middle East projects.
• Experience working with multinational teams and contractors.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent.
