About the Program
Improving health services is a shared objective of Vanuatu and Australia, and is important to the bilateral relationship. The high level political commitment of Government of Vanuatu to health as a priority is demonstrated in the National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2030 (NSDP) which applies the Sustainable Development Goals at the country level and references a healthy population as one of its national priorities. It also includes targets for gender equality and reduction of gender based violence.
The goal of the Vanuatu Health Program (VHP) is to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) achieve the health objectives of the NSDP and its commitment to the delivery of health services demanded at national, provincial and local levels for a healthy, secure and productive population. The end of program outcomes (EOPOs) are:
(a) Ministry of Health (MoH) senior staff lead continuous improvement and strengthened accountability of the Vanuatu health sector; and
(b) MoH corporate services, public health and clinic services staff increase delivery of equitable, accessible and better quality essential health services. The role
The Provincial Facilitator will support the planning and implementation of locally led, collective action solutions to address critical constraints in health service delivery in Sanma province, particularly in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Harold. The role will work under the joint direction of the Secretary General of the province and the VHP Deputy Team Leader, in close collaboration with health sector actors and other key cross-sector partners at the provincial level. The position will be based within the Provincial Government offices in Luganville, Santo.

You will have high-level interpersonal skills with an excellent ability to develop and foster relationships for joint effort and collective action. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to facilitate and negotiate effective solutions in complex settings. You will also have experience working in sensitively complex socio-political environments with the aptitude to maintain neutrality and build diverse and broad-based coalitions for positive change.
