Why NHCS?
Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) is a tuition-free open enrollment charter school for grades K1-12 in Dorchester that is a public alternative to traditional district schools. We serve over 800 students across two campuses predominantly from the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan. We believe in the social emotional well-being of our students and know that a well-coached and supported educator is instrumental in helping our scholars both academically and in their SEL growth. We do not give up on kids. Our expectation is that all of our students thrive at NHCS, graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education on the path to life success. Our educators are partners with our scholars and their families as they embark on this path.
What is the Occupational Therapist role?
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, the Occupational Therapist provides direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students per their IEP’s or 504 Plans. S/he maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with State guidelines and school policies and observes, screens and evaluates students as requested. In addition, the Occupational Therapist is a resource to all school staff as needed.
Is this You?
- You have a Minimum of two years’ experience or a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Must be a graduate from a four-year accredited Occupational Therapy program and hold a current Massachusetts OT license.
- Thorough knowledge of the current theory, principles and methods of occupational therapy with a working knowledge of general management practices;
- Ability to plan, implement, administer and coordinate an occupational therapy program within a rigorous academic environment;
- The successful candidate must be able to work with both elementary and middle school students and be skillful in designing and adapting activities and assessments suited to their individual needs; and
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
