As a Research Assistant, Research and Evaluation position exists to coordinate the administrative, data and statistical requirements of the research and analysis programme and to deliver high quality, robust research and evaluation services and advice
Working in the Ministry and aligning with Lalanga Fou goals The Ministry for Pacific Peoples make a significant contribution to improve outcomes for Pacific People. We bring the Pacific voice, perspective and understanding into the fabric of New Zealand government. We are the guardians and the caretakers of Pacific knowledge, cultures, and identities, and we support and take stewardship over our Pacific communities and peoples. We have a key role in developing cross government collaboration and coordination of government’s Pacific investments.
As a talent Research Assistant, you will: - Design a qualitative approach to gathering insights from relevant communities on starting and strengthening
- Implement, and co-facilitate meetings with and/or surveys for relevant communities where appropriate
- Organise, analyse, and present data collected.
- Conduct a literature scan and annotated bibliography and undertake comparative judgement assessment.
- Develop and maintain effective liaison with colleagues and research partners.
- Integrate research and feedback into the redevelopment of the existing ‘Starting and Strengthening Rainbow Diversity Groups’ resource.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to effectively prepare and launch the resource, such as printers and/or designers.
- Other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned by the Diversity and Inclusion Advisor from time to time.
- Providing timely quality assurance on research and evaluation projects
To be successful in this role you will bring: - Solid experience in research, monitoring and evaluation
- A well demonstrated knowledge and where possible experience in influencing Policy and translating research findings into policy.
- Solid network across government that enables collaboration and focus on better outcomes for Pacific People – ideally around Pacific Well-being.
- Excellent written communication and verbal skills, with the ability to confidently communicate with a variety of audiences.
- Good understanding of the machinery of government and how to navigate it.
- Sound understanding of Pacific communities
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to engage with different audiences on complex evaluation and analysis problems to advise on options, risks and opportunities.
