The Ministry for Pacific Peoples, on behalf of the Minister for Pacific Peoples, is inviting applications for the role of Member of the Pacific Business Trust Board.  
 
We are currently advertising for two board member roles to fill current vacancies.  
 
About the Pacific Business Trust Board 
The Pacific Business Trust (the Trust) is a charitable trust established in 1985 under the Charitable Trust Act 1957. The Trust aims to build a strong economic foundation for Pacific peoples in Aotearoa by providing business ownership and participation opportunities. 
 
The Trust's Board is responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the organization, setting business objectives, performance and funding policies, and ensuring management accountability for implementing the Trust's policies. More information about PBT can be found on its website. 
 
Board Skill Requirements 
Must be a Pacific person. The key skills and experiences required at this time are: 

• Demonstrated experience in business management and development. 
• Proven Governance experience. 
• Active connections and relationships with Pacific communities. 
• Strong financial management experience. 

Ideal candidates will also have some or all of the following: 

• Demonstrated understanding of legal frameworks, and/or legal qualifications. 
• Expertise and experience relevant to advancing Pacific peoples' aspirations in business. 
• Commitment to active participation on the Board. 
• Experience working in Pacific contexts, and strong Pacific cultural competency. 

 
Commitment 
Board members are appointed to serve a term of 1-3 years, as determined by the Minister for Pacific Peoples. The Minister may vary the term of appointment as deemed appropriate. 
 
Remuneration 
The Board is classified as a Group 3a, Level 5 Governance Board under the Cabinet Fees Framework. A Trust Board member currently receives an annual fee of $12,900.
