The Opportunity: 

Based out of Carwarp, Australia, this role reports to the Head of Almond Processing Operations, the purpose of this role is to drive the strategic direction of data management solutions within the organization to provide valuable insights to improve business performance. 
  
Our ideal candidate has experience as a Production Planner/Manager and is someone who is ambitious, solution and results-driven, understands the importance of driving data-led decision making, customer-centric. This person should have excellent influencing skills. Adaptive and flexible. Possesses a can-do attitude. Attention to detail. Self-control and Initiative. In addition to these qualities, we are looking for someone with the below skills/experience and qualifications.

Experience:

• Experience in production planning preferably in the FMCG/ Manufacturing, and has a proven track record of analytical thinking, and systematic problem-solving. 5+ years’ production planning experience preferred.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication, and collaborative skills. Eagerness to seek and share best practice. Combined with a self-driven approach to problem-solving, and excellent planning and time management skills.
• High level of procedure writing ability and excel ability and able to analyze data and present a report. Project management process skills. As well as working knowledge of data mining principles, predictive analytics, mapping and collecting data from multiple data systems, and proficient in business intelligence tools, software, and dashboards such as Power BI and Tableau.
• In-depth knowledge of almond grades and USDA specifications is a bonus.

Qualifications:

• Data science/engineering certificate or supply chain/industrial experience is highly desired. Production Planning and Almond Industry background preferred.

Key Accountabilities:

Data Analysis                                        

• Analyse sample hut data collection and help support value generation reports for the Head of Almond Processing Operations and the Production Manager.

Seasonal Planning                                               

• Map out pre-existing forward export orders from SAP along with expectations of domestic sales forecasts in order to build a hulling and shelling plan which will meet customer expectations.
• Liaise with sales team to communicate forward customer requirements with road map to help set the order in which bunkers will need to be ready to process.
• Build packaging forecast model to allow the ordering of materials in advance of production.
• Develop and maintain an availability forecast based on packing capability, shelling plan and expected semi-finished availability. Update at least on a weekly basis, showing weekly expected stock availability by size and grade.

Review                                           

• Review batch completion data of semi-finished goods versus above plan to produce, in order for adjustments to be made, to meet customer expectations.

Planning Packaging Materials

• Plan for packaging materials optimally. No out-of-stock situation and no excess inventory.

  
Finished Goods Scheduling

• Analyse semi-finished quality attributes in order to pick almond bins for work order batch creation that will meet export forward contracts and domestic customer requirements. Schedule the production plan with input from Kernel Processing Manager to maximize line rates, performance and efficiency.
• Develop shelling and packing plans with the view of maximizing product value, though optimal allocation of stock.
• Review completion of finished goods against what was planned, highlight and report performance at the daily management meeting. Create work orders to address issues identified.

Business Process Support

• Work on tasks that benefit the company outside of Production Planning, including IT support and improvements where time permits.
• Review the current business process and workflows. Identify gaps/inefficiencies if any.
• Redesign processes/workflows to reduce costs/improve customer service.
• Formulate, participate in and execute business improvement projects.

Additional Seasonal Requirements

• This role has a very seasonal aspect to the workload and requirements. February through November will be the busy part of the business cycle and as such only under exceptional circumstances will leave be granted during this period.
• During the main season, as per above, the priority of the role will be to deliver on the key accountabilities of the Production Planner role. During the off season, there is the expectation that this role will help general business process support and improvements.
• The company supports work/life balance holistically whilst also appreciates that the nature of this role may at times require the immediate adjustment of production schedules. We would all hope this is kept to a bare minimum but the nature of manufacturing historically shows this can be unavoidable.
