01st October, 2026
elvet season is almost upon our client, and this role has been created to give their customers the time and service they deserve.
CK Import Export is looking for a Sales and Business Development Manager to join our team in Te Awamutu.
For 30 years, CK Import Export has worked with deer farmers across New Zealand to grow export markets in China and Korea for velvet, antler and other deer products. Until now, the Executive team has led sales and business development directly. With a new SAP system in place and a planned Te Awamutu plant expansion ahead, this role gives customers dedicated support while the Executive Team focuses on leading the business through its next stage of growth.
You will manage established customers, follow orders from purchase order to delivery, and develop new business alongside the Chief Executive until you are ready to run with it yourself. You will be taught the products, customers and markets. What matters most is work ethic, commercial instinct and knowing what customers need.
What you will be doing
- Managing established Australasian customers while growing new relationships over time
- Following orders from purchase order to customer, so what is promised is what happens
- Developing new business across New Zealand and re-engaging long-standing customers
- Preparing contracts, entering orders into SAP and keeping the sales pipeline transparent
- Working with production, QA and logistics so orders go out right the first time
A bit more about you - A few years of commercial experience behind you, including sales, account management or a customer facing role
- Strong commercial instinct, and a feel for what matters to a customer and to the business
- Accurate with administration and disciplined with follow up, even with several orders in the air
- Resilient and pragmatic, and comfortable in a busy business where priorities shift
- Conversational Mandarin would be advantageous, as would the ability to learn key phrases and the business customs of CK's international customers
- A current driver licence, and the right to work in New Zealand
This is a long-term role in a growing business, not a stepping stone. You will learn directly from the person who built the customer base and then given the room to build your own. If you want something to own, we want to hear from you.
The Finer Details Hours: Full time and permanent
Location: Te Awamutu site based, with travel across New Zealand and Australia.
Indicative pay: $85,000 to $95,000 base
The Extras: Direct mentoring from the Chief Executive, customer travel, and a clear pathway into a more senior sales role.
Application deadline: 16 October 2026. Shortlisting will occur as applications are received. As the saying goes, first in first served.
Peak season will not wait, and neither will we. If this sounds like your kind of role, get your application in today.
