About the role:
This is a rare opportunity to join one of Australia's most exciting Defence industry projects and play a pivotal role in establishing and operating a world-class manufacturing facility.
As Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the KONGSBERG Missile Factory operates as a safe, secure, compliant and high-performing workplace. You will oversee the strategic and operational management of critical facilities, infrastructure, assets, contractors and support services that enable the production of advanced defence capabilities for Australia and its allies.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will have the opportunity to shape facility operations from the ground up, influence long-term asset strategy and contribute directly to the success of a nationally significant Defence program.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of buildings, infrastructure, utilities and workplace services across the facility.
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance programs, ensuring work is prioritised, completed on time and compliance requirements are met.
- Oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring safe, effective and compliant service delivery.
- Manage facilities budgets, forecasting and reporting while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability and asset performance.
- Maintain the Asset Management Plan, including lifecycle planning, condition assessments, asset onboarding and asset register management.
- Coordinate refurbishments, relocations, capital works and defect rectification activities across the site.
- Monitor compliance obligations and maintain facilities records, certifications, warranties and statutory documentation.
- Provide leadership and support to technical team members while building strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors and service providers.
- Support health, safety, environmental and security initiatives, including risk management, emergency preparedness and Defence security requirements.
- Contribute to organisational projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance facilities performance and operational effectiveness.
What you'll Bring:
You are an experienced facilities professional who thrives in complex, highly regulated environments and enjoys balancing strategic planning with operational execution.
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Building Services, Construction, Asset Management or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing facilities, property services, building operations or critical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of statutory maintenance requirements and Australian facilities management standards.
- Experience managing contractors, service agreements and compliance programs.
- Familiarity with WHS legislation, risk management and emergency preparedness.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
- Experience within Defence or other highly regulated environment.
- Experience working with Building Management Systems and interpreting utilities data.
- Familiarity with secure facilities, physical security systems and classified asset protection requirements.
- Exposure to sustainability frameworks such as NABERS, Green Star, or ISO 14001.
Mandatory Requirements: - Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance
