Our Mawson Lakes Facility (MLF) in Adelaide is the center of excellence for integration, facilities management, and sustainment of advanced defence systems. At MLF, you’ll be working alongside highly skilled engineers, operations, and project professionals in a collaborative and fast-paced environment that drives the success of Australia’s missile launch capability.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, verification, and delivery of complex systems across System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of defence-related projects. 
  
About the role:
As a Senior System Engineer, you will:

• Plan, execute and support engineering activities across all phases of the SDLC. 
• Develop and maintaining system documentation, including specifications, verification plans, test strategies, and support.
• Support program planning and execution through integration of systems engineering activities with cost and schedule baselines.
• Plan and support system integration, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software elements.
• Develop and execute Verification & Validation (V&V) strategies, including test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
• Support System Safety Engineering activities, including hazard analysis and safety case development.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Defence, regulatory, and company standards.
• Develop, maintain, and execute key engineering and assurance plans
• Supervising and guiding junior team members or project contributors where applicable.
• Working outside of primary work place/work hours as required. This includes travel to KONGSBERG and customer sites in Australia and after-hours online meetings with KONGSBERG teams in Norway.

 What you'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems).
• Significant experience delivering systems engineering for complex Defence or safety-critical systems.
• Demonstrated experience working under ASDEFCON contracts and managing CDRL deliverables.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain engineering and assurance plans (SEMP, Safety, Cyber, ILS, HFE).
• Strong technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience applying systems engineering principles across complex products or platforms.
• Familiarity with Defence project environments and gated lifecycle processes.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and engineering artefacts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

  
 Mandatory Requirements:  

• Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR). 
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
