At Kongsberg Defence Australia (KDAu) we work on cutting-edge projects, working in close collaboration with our customers and teams around the globe. We are currently seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our growing team.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your C++ skills to deliver innovative command and control software solutions for a major defence project.

About the Role
As the Software Development Engineer, you will:

• Create high quality C++ code, unit testing, regression testing and document your design.
• Contribute to integration test events by providing software expertise and hands on software support (e.g. debug and patching).
• Support fault diagnosis for delivered systems, such as reviewing logs and identifying any faults or errors with software function or performance.
• Provide structured peer reviews within the software team to ensure quality, consistency and adherence to project standards.
• Provide software development subject matter expertise to support  informed  decision- making by the program leadership team.
• Conduct all other software development activities in accordance with the relevant project plans and processes.
• Undertake travel as required, both within Australia and internationally, to fulfill the requirements of this role.

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary qualification in Software Development, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years’ experience in C++ (using Visual Studio), developing software for complex systems.
• Experience with, and knowledge of, the complete software development life cycle.
• Experience with Windows10 and Linux.
• Experience using GitLab and JIRA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good problem solving skills.

Nice to have 

• Experience with Test Driven Development.
• Experience with Data Distribution Service networking or similar publish-subscribe middleware technologies.
• Experience with Qt or similar graphical user interface frameworks.
