About the Role 
Join OpenStar's Magnet Technologies team to help model and analyse the high-temperature superconducting magnets and power systems at the heart of our levitated dipole reactor. You'll use multiphysics simulation to translate system-level performance goals into validated magnet designs. 

Key Responsibilities 
Electromagnetic & Multiphysics Modelling 

• Optimise magnet and power system designs using multiphysics simulation software (e.g. ANSYS EM, ANSYS Structural, COMSOL, FEMM) 
• Model system components such as core magnets and HTS transformer rectifiers, translating system-level performance goals into design parameters 
• Develop design tools, data analysis software, and algorithms in Python or similar 

Design Support 

• Develop specifications for magnets and related components based on system design and performance goals 
• Analyse design trade-offs and document recommendations supported by your modelling results 

Reporting & Collaboration 

• Track and report results and progress against project goals and milestones 
• Communicate and collaborate with internal engineering stakeholders on model assumptions and findings 

Key Relationships 

• Magnet Technologies engineers 
• HTS Rectifiers team 
• Plasma and Subsystems teams - system-level requirements 

What We're Looking For 

• Experience with multiphysics simulation software (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, FEMM) 
• Working knowledge of Python or a similar language for modelling and data analysis 
• Ability to work through and solve highly multidisciplinary engineering problems. 
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team. 
• Great team member with clear communication and collaboration skills. 
• Innate desire to learn, innovate, and critique ideas including one's own. 
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in physics, electrical, mechanical, or materials engineering, or a related discipline
