12 hour shifts, 3 days per week Rotating weekends though depending on balance of schedule unsure of frequency, but no more than every other.
General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Our patient population is heavier and sicker than a Stepdown, Tele or Gen Med floor. Intermediate is a level of care above these units and a level below ICU. We are constantly monitored, take care of patients who are trached and ventilated, some gtts, swan ganz with hemodynamic monitoring, post op day 1 or 2 open hearts, cardiac procedural patients, etc.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. We use EPIC computerized charting, Pyxis medication management system, Alaris pumps, various lift equipment, some ventilator usage on trached patients
Minimum 2 years Intermediate Care experience
Recent experience in ICU or INT care - 1-2 years experience in ICU or INT continuous
Need to be able to go between ICU and INT.
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) BLS is required, ACLS, IL RN license
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs patients.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.
Work requires unit-specific orientation and on-the-job training to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop proficiency in use of medical equipment and instruments used on assigned unit; to learn nursing care and quality assurance standards; and gain an understanding of the types of infants cared for on the unit, their needs, and effective nursing interventions.
