General job duties. Types of procedures required:
Provide evidence-based, developmentally supportive nursing care for Neonates using family centered care practices. As a part of the interdisciplinary team, provide nursing care for neonates and demonstrate the critical care knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the NICU. The RN needs to demonstrate knowledge of the princi¬ples of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct patients, family members and/or significant others in self-care/home care procedures. Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patients' physical, psychological and social needs, develops individual¬ized patient care plans, and evaluate patients' responses to medical and nursing interventions.
RN position would require experience for physical assessment, bottle/NG/OG/G-tube feedings, facilitating breast feeding, post-operative cares, wound cares, stoma care, medication administration (PO/IV), IV fluids therapy, IV medication drips (fentanyl, dopamine, dobutamine, etc) peripheral IV insertion,TPN, venipuncture/heel stick for labs, PICC line/UVC/UAC/CVC maintenance and care, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Respiratory support including nasal cannula, Nasal IMV, CPAP, Vapotherm, Conventional ventilator, High frequency ventilators, nitric oxide therapy, isolette/warmer, thermoregulation, Hypothermia Therapy, phototherapy, education for parents/family/caregivers.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept:
EPIC EMR, Vocera badge communication device, Alaris IV pump, Medfusion medication infusion pump, Neoblue phototherapy, Pyxis supply systems for medication and supplies
- Minimum 2 years level 3-4 NICU experience required
- BLS and NRP required, IL RN license
