This position is four 10 hour shifts (0630-1700) Monday through Friday without a set day off and call shifts for nights (1700-0630), weekends (Friday at 1700 through Monday at 0630) and holidays.
Prepares operating rooms for operative procedures, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services and assists in operating room as
assigned and directed. The Operating Room Technician cares for patients of all ages (newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.)
Graduate of approved school of practical nursing, operating room technician program or military training program. Other applicants evaluated on individual basis.
3 years as a surg tech; must have experience with Open Heart Bypass procedures; also must have experience in cardiac, vascular and thoracic as well as open heart
Previous surgical technician experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/ REGISTRATION:
Healthcare Provider CPR (prior to employment or eligible for re-certification during house orientation).
ENVIRONMENTAL/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly exposed to risk of blood borne disease. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes. Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment. Subject to burns and cuts. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness).
REQUIRED PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: Eye and face protection, mask, lab coat, gown, hat, shoe covers, and sterile/non-sterile gloves.
REQUIRED COURSE(S)/ TRAINING: Current enrollment in post-secondary school program pursing ORT certification and/or Nursing program.
