Performs clinical laboratory tests and analysis to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by performing the following duties.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
1.Adheres to hospital's Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.
2.Adheres to hospital's Service Excellence Standards.
3.Performs clinical laboratory analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid.
4.Performs blood type, antibody screen, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
5.Analyzes test results, enters test results in computerized report formats, and calls results according to laboratory policies for critical values.
6.Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
7.Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedure.
8.Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific laboratory instruments and documents data.
9.Records on instrument logs, repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on equipment.
10.Participates in orientation of new personnel.
11.Keeps all patient information confidential and respects patient’s privacy.
12.Follows all Safety and Infection Control policies as prescribed in hospital and laboratory policies/procedures.
13.Abides by the policies and procedures of the facility. Standards of conduct in the Compliance Plan and participates in ongoing monitoring of activities with respect to compliance, and abides by the Service Excellence Standards.
14.Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist as needed.
15.Ability to work with others in a team environment, accept direction from supervisors, follow work rules and procedures, and ability to accept constructive criticism.
16.May be required to have a valid driver’s license to drive the hospital vehicle. Driving record will be examined for approval by hospital insurance company.
17.Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, BMH quality improvement program, etc.
18.Performs other duties as assigned.

SECURITY / ACCESS: Badge access to designated employee entrances. Password protected computer access as needed. Understands and complies with security/access policies of the organization.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: The work environmental is primarily inside where the climate is controlled and does not have extreme temperature fluctuation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
