Reports to the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. Under general supervision directs the work of the Respiratory Care personnel as assigned.
Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities indicated below are normally obtained through the successful completion of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy Program, a valid Indiana certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and two to three years of experience in the field. Preference will be given to candidates with previous supervisory experience and registered Therapists.
Knowledge & Skills
Requires the knowledge of and delivery of respiratory therapy utilized in areas assigned. Demonstrates technical/supervisory skills necessary to coordinate and direct the activities of staff and to assist in department education activities. Demonstrates the analytical and organization skills to plan, implement and direct the activities of the department or shift. Demonstrates interpersonal skills sufficient to establish and maintain working relationships with Respiratory Care staff and the staff of other departments and patient care areas. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, for the effective implementation of policies and procedures and to maintain appropriate standards of patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of and a commitment to Beacon Health System’s mission and values; and the organization’s goal of providing world class service.
Works in a patient care environment with potential exposure to communicable disease and radiation. Requires the ability to make decisions quickly in potentially stressful situations.
Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
