This individual is responsible for screening and diagnosing gynecological and non-gynecological slides while working under the supervision of the pathologists and supervisor and following their technical direction. Activities may include accessioning, staining, microscopic screening and filing of cytology slides and requisitions. He/she will report results of all tests performed according to established procedures. In addition this individual will participate fully in all cytology quality control procedures and complies with quality assurance and quality management standards with the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and other applicable agencies.
This individual will troubleshoot technical procedures within the department and make recommendations for solutions.
This individual will maintain a healing environment for employees and patients with a spirit of caring and concern as incorporated in the philosophy of our Catholic healthcare systems while performing all job functions.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor degree in a lab science and graduate of an accredited cytotechnology program required.
