The Director of Education, under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, is directly responsible for planning, coordinating and carrying out the Medical Center's education program in accordance with the hospital's standards, policies and Philosophy for all hospital personnel.
-Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, complying at all times with the policies and procedures of the Medical Center and demonstrates a commitment to the key values of Service to the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity and Dedication.
-Meets regularly with the Director of Human Resources to discuss hospital Philosophy, objectives, staff and management education needs, budgetary review of programs and equipment, program plans, and related problems.
-Meets with Nursing Education Committee in an ex-officio capacity and serves as a consultant and resource person to nursing.
-Assists all Department Directors in planning and implementing programs specific to their departments.
-Serves as resource and role model in area of curriculum planning, teaching and curriculum evaluation.
-Develops, plans and organizes educational programs for all levels of personnel and evaluates programs at least annually.
-Manages the functions within the Education Department.
-Participates on selected hospital committees.
-Establishes and maintains effective interdepartmental and community relationships to promote educational activities for the Medical Center.
-Establishes and maintains effective liaison with schools and universities, and enlists their cooperation in developing courses which meet professional and technical need.
-Consults with outside agencies and organizations on available educational programs or the development of such, and coordinates with Medical Center programs.
-Coordinates the activities of the Medical Library.
-Coordinates Continuing Medical Education activities for the Medical/Dental staff.
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in a health related or education field preferred.
- 2-3 year's acute care clinical experience with sufficient scope and experience to understand the needs of the division of nursing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required as well as ability to stimulate and motivate learning.
- The position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
- This position is a salaried position but the hourly range is $35hr-$55hr depending on experience and credentials.
