Finance Manager (Contract) – Hybrid / Leeds – Inside IR35 – £300–£400 per day (Umbrella or PAYE) 40 hours per week, Initially till January 2026
Looking to step into a finance role where your work directly impacts the delivery of vital UK transport infrastructure?
This is an opportunity to take full ownership of financial operations within a major highways programme, working at the heart of a project-led environment that shapes how people travel and connect. Based in Leeds with hybrid flexibility, this six-month contract sits within a high-performing team delivering one of the UK's leading infrastructure portfolios.
- As the Finance Manager, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing the financial performance of a portfolio of infrastructure contracts.
- You’ll provide essential insight to project and commercial teams, while maintaining rigorous cost control, managing balance sheets, and driving accurate month-end reporting.
- You’ll also be responsible for shaping how projects monitor and forecast financial performance, manage cash flow, and ensure that both internal stakeholders and clients get clear, timely financial updates.
- You won’t just report numbers — you’ll help the business make better decisions, faster.
Your role as Finance Manager will cover the full breadth of project finance:
- Leading reporting cycles and producing management accounts
- Collaborating with delivery teams on project cost control
- Supporting client audits and ensuring financial compliance
- Managing invoicing, receivables and cash forecasting
- Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and internal recharges
- Driving continuous improvement in processes and automation
- Supporting timesheet validation and onboarding of new delivery projects
- Leading and mentoring any junior finance support as required
- This contract gives you the chance to demonstrate your ability to blend hands-on financial control with big-picture thinking. You’ll be seen as a trusted advisor to project teams and stakeholders — playing a crucial role in project health, client satisfaction and commercial success.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be a qualified accountant with proven experience in project finance or consultancy operations. You’ll need a strong grasp of Excel, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to engage with stakeholders across all levels. If you’ve used Oracle E1 before, that’s a bonus — but your attitude and expertise are what matter most.
Whether you're between roles or looking for a challenge that gives you high visibility and impact, this role offers a meaningful way to apply your finance skills in a fast-paced, delivery-focused setting.
