Job Description – Environmental Advisor Overview
  
We are seeking a motivated Environmental Advisor to support environmental approvals, impact assessment work, and compliance activities across projects and operations for our Tier 1 Mining client. The role is suited to an environmentally driven professional with strong understanding of State and Federal environmental legislation and the ability to deliver high-quality assessments and documentation.
This position plays a key role in ensuring projects meet environmental requirements, align with business objectives, and maintain operational integrity across sites.
  
Key Responsibilities Environmental Approvals & Assessment

• Deliver environmental approval documentation in line with project and business objectives.
• Prepare, coordinate and submit environmental approval applications for Fortescue projects.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments across sites, including evaluation of potential risks and mitigation measures.
• Manage supporting environmental studies required for approvals, including scope development and external consultant coordination.

Advisory & Stakeholder Support

• Provide expert environmental approvals advice to project teams, leaders and internal stakeholders.
• Develop approvals strategies tailored to regulatory requirements and project needs.
• Communicate approvals processes, requirements and updates across internal teams.
• Offer guidance on compliance obligations and potential impacts to project timelines or scope.

Field Work & Site Engagement

• Conduct site visits as required to support assessments, approvals and environmental due diligence.
• Liaise with site personnel to gather information, confirm environmental conditions and observe operational activities.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Mandatory

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Advanced knowledge of State and Federal environmental legislation, approvals pathways and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong report writing, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to develop clear, well-structured documentation.

Desired

• 2–4 years’ experience in an environmental role within the resources industry or relevant government department.
• Experience using GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS or similar).
• Understanding of Pilbara environmental conditions, flora, fauna and regional regulatory requirements.
