Seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to manage procurement, supplier coordination and timely delivery of materials for a major mining operation.
We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join one of Australia’s leading mining organisations. This role supports the Customer Group through efficient purchasing and expediting of goods and services, playing a key part in ensuring materials, equipment and services are delivered on time, at the right cost and in line with operational requirements. The position reports to the Purchasing Supervisor within a high-performing team.
About the Role
In this position, you will manage end-to-end procurement activities, maintain strong supplier relationships, and ensure all purchasing processes comply with company policies. The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong commercial awareness and the ability to support multiple stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Purchasing and expediting materials, equipment, supplies and services in accordance with established procedures.
• Sourcing and evaluating suppliers, issuing RFQs and securing competitive pricing opportunities.
• Supporting commercial analysis across capital projects, maintenance programs and operational expenditure.
• Ensuring all goods and services are ordered, tracked, received accurately and meet specification requirements.
• Maintaining accurate costing and documentation for all purchased items.
• Delivering responsive, high-quality purchasing support to meet the needs of the Customer Group.
About You
We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate:
• Experience in a similar purchasing or buyer role, ideally within mining or resources.
• Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control and service procurement.
• Understanding of commercial terms, legal considerations and supply chain processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in purchase-to-pay workflows and logistics processes.
• SAP experience (essential).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a purchasing role.
• An adaptable, team-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks and associated commercial/operational risk.
