Job Title:  Shellfish Processor

Location: Isle of Man

Job Summary:
We are looking for dedicated and skilled Fish and Shellfish Processors to join our seafood processing team on the Isle of Man. In this role, you will contribute to the efficient processing of fish and shellfish, by sorting, cleaning, gutting, separating product from waste material and ensuring that our products meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and Cleaning: Processes fish and shellfish by sorting, cleaning, gutting and separating product from waste material.
• Filleting and Portioning: Skilfully fillet and portion fish and shellfish using appropriate tools and techniques to optimize yield and presentation.
• Cooking and Processing: Engage in cooking (if required), shucking, and other processing procedures for shellfish, ensuring quality and safety.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular checks to ensure that all products meet the company's quality specifications and food safety regulations.
• Packaging and Labelling: Properly package and label finished products for distribution, ensuring that all packaging materials are safe and appropriate for food use.
• Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, hygienic work area, following all sanitation guidelines and food safety practices to prevent contamination.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain processing equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Documentation: Record processing activities, inventory levels, and any quality issues to maintain accurate production records.
• Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production targets and assist with the training of new employees as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in fish and shellfish processing or a related field is preferable but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in processing seafood is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude toward teammates.
• Physical endurance and the ability to lift heavy items, as well as stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours if required.

Working Conditions:

• The processing environment may be cold and wet; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing will be provided.
• This role involves repetitive tasks and physical labor, including standing for long periods.
