JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Carpenter / Joiner
 
Job Overview:
 
We are seeking for a skilled Carpenters & Joiners to join our team. Carpenters and joiners are skilled tradespeople who work with wood, metal, and other materials to construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures. They play a crucial role in the construction and manufacturing sectors, working on both residential and commercial projects. Carpenters typically focus on structural work, while joiners are more involved in the creation of finer woodworks and fittings.
 
Working Condition:
 
Carpenters and joiners typically work on construction sites, in workshops, or occasionally in residential settings. The job may involve manual labor, including heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions. Safety gear, including hard hats, gloves, and protective eyewear, is often necessary.
 

• No less than 40 Hours/Week (Flexible)

• Examines drawings and specifications to determine job requirements;
• Selects and measures appropriate wood and cuts, shapes and drills to specification using saws, planes, chisels and other power or hand tools;
• Aligns and fixes prepared wood pieces by screwing, nailing, gluing and dowelling to form frames, shop fronts, counter units, decking, theatrical sets, furniture, small wooden craft, scale models and wooden templates;
• Checks accuracy of work with square, rule and spirit level;
• Maintains and repairs woodwork and fittings.
• Assemble pre-made parts and components to create exhibits, displays, and other wood fixtures.
• Work closely with other tradespeople (like carpenters, electricians, and plumbers) to ensure seamless installation and functionality of woodwork.

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry/joinery or relevant experience is preferred.
• Previous work experience or apprenticeships in carpentry, joinery, or related fields masonry is required.

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools specific to carpentry and joinery.
• Strong mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials accurately.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
