Fund Accountant - Alternative Investments
Baltimore County (Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite / 3 Days Remote)
$80K Base + 15-25% Annual Bonus
 
About the Opportunity
Legacy Search Advisors is partnering with a growing alternative investment fund administration firm in the Baltimore area that is looking to add multiple Fund Accountants to its expanding team.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to transition into the investment industry and build a long-term career in fund accounting.
 
Prior fund accounting experience is NOT required! Our client is particularly interested in individuals with 1-2 years of accounting experience, a strong accounting foundation, and excellent communication skills.
 
Responsibilities

• Assist with fund accounting activities for alternative investment funds, including private equity and private credit.
• Prepare and maintain financial records, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including fund-level financial statements.
• Assist with capital activity, investor allocations, and other fund-related transactions.
• Work closely with senior accountants and managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
• Support ongoing process improvements and the continued growth of the fund accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in public accounting, corporate accounting, or fund administration.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, motivated, and eager to learn.
• Interest in alternative investments, private equity, or private credit.
