Legacy Search Advisors has partnered with a highly successful real estate organization in the Baltimore area on a newly created Director of Real Estate Accounting opportunity.
  
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished real estate accounting professional to step into a visible leadership role with a sophisticated, well-established organization known for operating with an exceptionally lean and high-performing team.
  
Reporting directly to senior accounting leadership, this individual will oversee a key portion of the company’s real estate accounting function while leading an experienced team and partnering across Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury and other areas of the organization.
  
The position offers an opportunity to combine hands-on technical accounting knowledge with team leadership, process improvement and broader business partnership.
  
What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead accounting and reporting for a significant real estate portfolio
• Oversee and develop an experienced accounting team
• Review complex lease and property-level accounting activity
• Partner with Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury and other internal stakeholders
• Support acquisitions, portfolio activity and other transactions impacting the accounting function
• Drive improvements to processes, controls and reporting
• Serve as a key resource to senior leadership on accounting matters related to the portfolio
• Help ensure accuracy, consistency and scalability across a growing and sophisticated real estate platform

What We’re Looking For

• Strong real estate and/or property accounting experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally managing experienced accounting professionals
• Solid understanding of lease accounting and related real estate accounting concepts
• Public company, REIT and/or large corporate accounting experience strongly preferred
• CPA preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to operate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional partners
• A track record of improving processes, developing teams and taking ownership of complex accounting responsibilities

Compensation
$160K – $200K base salary + 30% target bonus + Equity
